Job Title: Accountant

Role
- We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our growing team at Carbon Microfinance Bank.
- The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all financial transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with all statutory regulations.
- This role is crucial in supporting our financial operations and contributing to the overall success of our innovative fintech company.
Key Responsibilities
- Bookkeeping: Manage all bookkeeping activities, including posting and reconciliation of journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
- General Ledger: Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger accounts.
- Bank Reconciliation: Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
- Payment Processing: Ensure approved payments are processed in a timely manner without delays.
- Statutory Payments and Compliance: Follow up with all remittances and ensure that all statutory deductions are paid within relevant timelines.
- Receivables and Payables: Maintain accurate records of receivables and payables and follow up on collections/payments where required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certifications, e.g., ACA, ACCA, ICAN is mandatory
- 2+ years of experience in an accounting role, preferably within the fintech or financial services industry.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software and spreadsheets.
- Experience with core banking systems like Mifos is a plus
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and financial regulations is a plus.
