We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Maintenance Officer

Location: Onitsha, Anambra
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The Maintenance Officer is responsible for coordinating and supervising all vehicle maintenance activities to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the company’s fleet.
  • This role ensures timely repairs, effective preventive maintenance, and proper documentation of all mechanical activities across terminals and workshops.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance for all company vehicles.
  • Monitor vehicle performance, mileage, and service schedules.
  • Respond to vehicle breakdowns and liaise with roadside technicians.
  • Supervise mechanics, electricians, and workshop activities.
  • Ensure availability and proper use of tools, spare parts, and materials.
  • Verify quality of parts and follow up on repairs to ensure timely completion.
  • Maintain accurate records of all repairs, parts replaced, and service history.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance reports.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and relevant regulatory requirements (VIO, FRSC, etc.).
  • Work with the storekeeper to track spare parts inventory and usage.
  • Make recommendations for fleet improvement and cost reduction.

Requirements

  • OND / HND / B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Transport Management or related field.
  • 2–5 years relevant experience in vehicle maintenance (transport/logistics industry preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of diesel and petrol engines.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical faults quickly.
  • Good reporting and documentation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Good leadership and communication skills.
