We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Accountant

Locatio: Lagos

Role

  • We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our growing team at Carbon Microfinance Bank.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all financial transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with all statutory regulations.
  • This role is crucial in supporting our financial operations and contributing to the overall success of our innovative fintech company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Bookkeeping: Manage all bookkeeping activities, including posting and reconciliation of journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
  • General Ledger: Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger accounts.
  • Bank Reconciliation: Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Payment Processing: Ensure approved payments are processed in a timely manner without delays.
  • Statutory Payments and Compliance: Follow up with all remittances and ensure that all statutory deductions are paid within relevant timelines.
  • Receivables and Payables: Maintain accurate records of receivables and payables and follow up on collections/payments where required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications, e.g., ACA, ACCA, ICAN is mandatory
  • 2+ years of experience in an accounting role, preferably within the fintech or financial services industry.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and spreadsheets.
  • Experience with core banking systems like Mifos is a plus
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and financial regulations is a plus.
